The TeRABIT project was among the key participants at the Italian Conference of Physics Students 2025, the annual event organised by the Italian Association of Physics Students (AISF).
On 26 March, during the plenary session, Mauro Campanella and Silvia Calegari presented the TeRABIT project, delving into aspects of project management for handling a complex and structured initiative. In particular, they analysed the role of the Infrastructure Manager, highlighting the differences between the ICT industry and applied research projects.
The presentation also shed light on both the more formal aspects of management—such as documentation, GANTT charts, risk management, and project sustainability—and the more dynamic side, which emphasises soft skills and places individuals and communication at the heart of activities. This approach fosters the creation of a network among project members, enriched by the diversity of their thematic expertise.
Following this, Chiara Scaini and Elisa Zuccolo gave an interview about the UrgentSHAKE use case, a computational workflow that leverages the TeRABIT infrastructure to run rapid seismic simulations, optimising computation times and enhancing emergency response capabilities.
The initiative provided participants with the opportunity to attend seminars led by distinguished national and international experts, both from within and beyond the University of Milan-Bicocca. Additionally, attendees had the chance to visit laboratories and research centres in the Milan area. The programme also included moments dedicated to exploring the city and networking in an informal setting.
